Dad's Parenting Gift Guide
My authentic top 5 of either things I love as a parent, or things our kids adore...
I’ve seen many gift guides this year, however many seem generic and too focused high level gifts for kids without any context. So I thought I’d provide an authentic top 5 of either things I use as a parent, or things our kids love. So here it goes:
#1 - Magnetic Tiles
I would say magnetic tiles are the number one “toy” in our home. We first bought a set of magnetic tiles when our oldest was 2, he’s now 7 and that set has grown and grown over the years. It’s lovely to see him still finding joy in his tiles playing alongside our youngest who’s now 3.
We love them so much we even have the marble run tubes, which essentially are tubing you can connect to create a cool ball run. And we have travel-sized tiles to take out for dinner and when we’re on the train/plane.
Much like Lego, magnetic tiles offer benefits like encouraging creativity and imagination, and offering endless open-ended play. Magnetic tiles are a must for all families.

#2 - Treasure Cove Books
Ok, next up we have the Treasure Cove Book series. We’ve been buying these books for over 7 years and they’re dirt cheap. Brand new they are only a few pound, however on Amazon you can often buy them for less than a pound second hand (I love second hand books for some odd reason). Treasure Cove bring some of the magical Disney movies to life, with engaging art work and simple stories that our 3yo has been enjoying since she was 2. Below are two of our favourites right now, Toy Story (the first movie) and Moana…
#3 - Boot Cleaner
My beloved Boot Cleaner. My wife bought me this for Christmas last year, I’ve shared about it numerous times on IG and people are always blown away from my before and after. Our oldest plays football, he loves getting as muddy as physically possible, and his trainers are forever dirty. And besides visiting the recycling centre, cleaning his boots is my therapy. #4 - Boot Dryer
My Boot Dryer and Boot Cleaner go hand in hand. Once the boots are cleaned, they go on the dryer. And also, we take our dryer with us on our trips to the beach, so when we’re back at our hotel/lodge after a wet and windy trip to the beach, our boots/wellies go on the dryer. A must for all parents…
#5 - Disney Bedtime Stories
And finally, another one for the little ones. I picked this up at a local Card Factory for £9.99. It’s 365 pages and endless stories from Disney Classics. Our 3yo absolutely loves it and she has just as much fun picking out the stories, as well as me reading them. Such good value given the quality of the book and the vast number of stories inside. Definitely worth a place next to any bed!
